PART I (Group activity): Conducting a Literature Review
1.    Get into teams of 2-3 members.
2.    Conduct a literature review on your common interest area.
3.    Identify different research topics within that area.
4.    Discuss these research topics and their interrelationships.
5.    Each member selects one of the identified topics for their individual task in (PART II).
PART I: Literature Review  Report
1.    Use Class 3 & 5 Slides to develop this report about research in your area of interest.

2.    Include a section at the end of the literature report that:

a.     Describes the specific research topics that each member selected for individual work.
b.    Shows the interrelationships among these topics.

SUNDAY
30th July
PART II (Individual activity): Developing a Research Proposal
1.    Develop a research proposal for your selected topic.

2.    Although this is an individual activity, team discussions are encouraged to discuss alternative research strategies for each topic and share ideas.
PART II: Research Proposal

1.     Follow format suggested in Class 5 to develop your proposal according to the research design you selected for the study.

2.     Use templates from Classes 6 – 8.

Guidelines for Submission
Length & Formatting
  1. Concept Note Title (14pt, Bold, Times New Roman)
  2. Sub-titles (12pt, Bold, Times New Roman)
  3. Body Text (12pt, Regular, Times New Roman)
  4. Line spacing (1.5 throughout document)
  5. Number of pages (Maximum 10 pages for Literation Review Report, and 5 pages for Research Proposal)
  6. References and Citations (Use IEEE standard)
Deadline & Procedure
  • Group Literature Review Report is due on SUNDAY 30th July. Report should be Printed AND placed inside envelope that is marked by TEAM MEMBERS NAMES and TITLE FOR RESEARCH AREA
  • Individual Research Proposal is due on 20th August 2017. Document should be Printed AND placed inside envelope that is marked by YOUR NAME and PROPOSAL TITLE

Assignment Marking Scheme
  • Weight of Assignment #2 is 30% of Total Course Evaluation, split into 10% for PART I and 20% for PART II
  • Criteria for evaluation consider the effort put into the assignment, the logic and integrity of the work, as well as adherence to assignment guidelines
  • There is a penalty for late submissions. 2% for PART I and 5% for PART II

·         Distribution of Weight is as follows: Effort (4%) + Logic (4%) + Guidelines (2%)
·         For late submissions, 2% will be deducted from total score for assignment
